Privacy Policy
Your Privacy, Our Promise.
Last Updated: 10 November 2025
Welcome to Mix Radio! We're part of the Cute Media family, and our mission is to bring you the best chart hits. While we do that, protecting your privacy is a massive priority for us. We're not about sketchy data practices.
This policy explains, in plain English, what info we collect (and why), how we use it, and how we keep it safe. "We," "us," and "our" refers to Mix Radio and our parent company, Cute Media.
1. The Info We Collect (And Why)
The Stuff You Send Us
This is the information you actively give us. For example, when you:
- Use our "Get In Touch" form (your name and email).
- Enter a competition (your name, email, and maybe phone number).
We only ask for what we need. We'll use your email to reply to your message or to let you know you've won a prize. Simple.
The "Tech Stuff" We Collect Automatically
When you visit our site, your browser or device sends some info automatically. This doesn't tell us *who* you are, but it helps us run the site.
- Log Data: Your IP address, browser type, and which pages you visit. This helps us see what's popular and fix any errors.
- Your Location (For the Weather!): This is a big one, so let's be super clear. To give you that handy local weather report in the sidebar, we need to know roughly where you are. Your browser might ask for permission to share your precise location (latitude/longitude).
Our Weather Promise: We *only* use this location data to ping our weather partners (Open-Meteo and Nominatim) and get the forecast. **We do not store your precise location data.** It's a "one-and-done" request to give you a feature you'll love.
2. What We Do With Your Data
We use your info for good, not evil. Our main goals are:
- To keep the music playing and make sure the website works perfectly on your device.
- To chat back when you contact us with a question or feedback.
- To run cool competitions (and actually be able to send you the prize if you win!).
- To show you the weather in your area, not 500 miles away.
- To show ads, which help pay the bills and keep the station free for you to enjoy.
3. Who We Share Your Data With
Let's be transparent. We do not sell your personal data. Ever.
But we do sometimes need to share bits of data to make everything work. The main groups we share with are:
- Our Weather Buddies: As mentioned, your location is sent (anonymously) to Open-Meteo and Nominatim to get the weather.
- News & Travel Feeds: The site pulls in content from the BBC and National Highways. We're not sending them your data, but if you click a link to their sites, you'll be on their turf and subject to their privacy policies.
- The Legal Stuff: If we're required by law (e.g., a court order), we may have to disclose your info.
4. The Deal with Cookies
Cookies are tiny text files stored on your device. They're not as tasty as they sound, but they are super useful for making the site work.
- Essential Cookies: These make the site function. For example, the cookie that remembers your player's volume so you don't have to change it every visit.
- Analytics Cookies: These help us (anonymously) count how many people are visiting and what pages are popular. This helps us make the site better.
- Advertising Cookies: These are used by our ad partners to show you ads they think you might actually find relevant, instead of random junk.
Your browser has settings to block or delete cookies, but be warned: it might make parts of our site (like the player) a bit wobbly.
5. Your Data, Your Control (UK GDPR)
We're based in the UK, which means you have powerful rights under UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). You are the boss of your data.
How long we keep it: Only as long as we absolutely need to. For example, we'll delete competition entries after the winner is drawn and the prize is sent.
Your Rights: You have the right to...
- Access: Ask for a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Rectification: Tell us to fix any info that's wrong.
- Erasure: Ask us to delete your data (the "right to be forgotten").
- Object: Tell us you're not happy with us using your data in a certain way.
To use any of these rights, just drop our team a line. See the "Get in Touch" section below.
6. Updates to This Policy
The web changes, and so might this policy. If we make big changes, we'll post them here. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page is always your best guide.
7. Get in Touch (Our Company Info)
Got questions? Worried about something? We're a friendly bunch and we're here to help. This policy is for Mix Radio, which is proudly owned and operated by Cute Media.
