Welcome to Mix Radio! We are part of the Cute Media family. We are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we use any personal information we collect about you when you use this website.
1. Who We Are (Data Controller)
For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Controller is Cute Media.
For all data protection enquiries, please contact us at:
Email: hello@cutemedia.uk
Mix Radio is operated by Cute Media Network.
2. What Information We Collect
We collect information about you when you interact with our station:
- Voluntary Data: Name, email address, and phone number (if you email us, submit a contact form, or enter a competition).
- Technical Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and geographic location (approximate).
- Usage Data: Pages visited, time spent on the site, and the stream you listened to.
3. How We Use Your Information (Legal Basis)
Under GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases to process your data:
A. Consent
When you explicitly sign up for a newsletter or accept non-essential cookies. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
B. Legitimate Interests
We use your data to:
- Provide the Audio Stream: We need your IP address to send the audio stream directly to your device.
- Local Weather: We use your approximate location (latitude/longitude) to request weather data from Open-Meteo and location names from BigDataCloud. This location data is processed instantly by the browser and is not stored on our servers.
- Analytics: To understand how our audience listens so we can improve our programming and website performance.
- Security: To prevent fraud, abuse, or malicious attacks against our website.
C. Contract
If you enter a competition, we process your data to fulfill the contract (i.e., to contact you if you win and deliver the prize).
4. Third-Party Services & APIs
We do not sell your data. However, we use trusted third-party service providers and APIs to help run our platform:
- Streaming Provider: Our live audio stream and "Recently Played" history is hosted by Kane Productions. They receive your IP address to deliver the audio data.
- Weather & Location Services: The Open-Meteo API and BigDataCloud API receive anonymous location coordinates from your browser to generate the local forecast.
- News Aggregation: Content from BBC News is embedded via public RSS feeds.
- Album Art: The Apple iTunes API is queried anonymously to retrieve album artwork for the Live Player.
5. Cookies & Local Storage
Cookies and Local Storage are small text files placed on your computer or device to collect standard internet log information and visitor behavior information.
- Essential Cookies/Storage: Required for the site to work (e.g., remembering if you have muted the player, and temporarily caching weather data so your browser doesn't have to constantly ask for your location).
- Performance Cookies: Help us analyze site traffic and usage patterns.
You can set your browser not to accept cookies, but some website features (like the player volume or the local weather widget) may not function as a result.
6. Your Rights
Under the UK GDPR, you have rights including:
- Your right of access: You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
- Your right to rectification: You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate.
- Your right to erasure: You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
